Why we built it
Most people need a PDF tool a handful of times a year. Installing desktop software for that is overkill, and uploading a document to an unfamiliar server to get it back thirty seconds later is a poor trade. We wanted a third option: tools that open instantly in a browser tab and do the work on your own machine.
How our tools work
Almost every tool here runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you select a file, it is read into your browser's memory, processed on your device, and written back out as a download. It is never transmitted to us. That is why the tools work on slow connections, why there is no queue, and why we have no file storage to secure in the first place.
Where a tool cannot work this way, we say so clearly on that tool's page.
What it costs
Nothing. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit. The site is supported by advertising, which is why you will see ad slots on some pages. We keep them out of the way of the tools themselves.
